your constituents have spoken.... such overwhelming support is a manifestation of our country's famine for a genuine change and transformation. of my 39 years of existence, i'm still at a loss as to how i would encapsulate my understanding of our political system. i'd probably spend another 39 years but that would still not suffice to equip me with an intellect adequate enough to comprehend it fully.

i am at a quandary of what could be the most crucial official act that a president-elect would take after the much anticipated oath of office. selection of your cabinet members would be one of those. it’s an early indication of your aptitude to choose who are competent from those who aren’t. a good leader should have the skills to pick wisely from a wide array of qualified and potential candidates. if you will not be very vigilant about it, it may be an apparent indication of your preferential biases. the people are, by now, very sensitive about the set of servants that will pave the way towards unadulterated Philippines’ “overhauling”. choice based on “utang na loob” is not a good way to start. your constituents’ eyes are glued on how the new administration would translate into reality what has often been spoken and promised during the campaign period. we have suffered and agonized for 9 long years. we’ve craved and fought for liberation but we were ignored. the supreme authority that was supposed to protect the people was the very same bludgeon that was used by tyrants to hold on to power. the infamous battle cry “tama na! sobra na! palitan na!” proved to be futile this time. the relief of being emancipated from a regime of greed, corruption, deception, dishonesty, immorality and wickedness is enough to rekindle that slight ray of hope for Filipino people.

The 14 million people who cast their votes in your favor have 15 million dreams, hopes and aspirations, not only for themselves but for their families as well. such vast responsibility and lofty expectations are now on your shoulders. please do not let us down. give us what we truly deserve….a chance to have a better leader, a better country and a better life.
